Iyengar Yoga

As a young teenager, I first discovered the practice of yoga, and it has since become the foundation of my entire life. Thanks to the teachings of B.K.S.Iyengar, I have found a valuable way to maintain my physical and mental wellbeing. I am constantly grateful for the blessings that yoga brings to my body, mind, and spirit.

I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to study with Mr. Iyengar, and his his daughter Geeta in person, and his granddaughter Abhijata online.

Additionally, I have been inspired by many experienced senior yoga teachers here in the UK, whom I regularly attend classes with. My dedication to yoga has led me to achieve a level 2 Certification and a Therapy teacher status. Through my training, I have delved into various aspects of yoga therapy and have even worked at an MS Treatment Centre for several years. Overall, my journey with yoga has been a rewarding and enriching experience that I am grateful for every day.

I have also been a part of recent research undertaken by the Iyengar Yoga Association, which has shown the benefits of the practice for students with Long Covid.

What is Iyengar Yoga?

B.K.S.Iyengar taught yoga for more than 70 years in Pune, India, in the tradition of Patanjali, the founder of Yoga in his writing of the Yoga Sutras.
B.K.S.iyengar’s 1966 book “Light on Yoga” has been printed in many languages and his detailed and precise methods of teaching are now widespread across the globe. His son Prashant and granddaughter Abhijata lead the current teaching from the Institute in Pune.”

Iyengar Yoga Certification

This certification mark is to ensure that the Iyengar Yoga teacher has completed the 6 years of training required to initially qualify at level one. It also guarantees that further training and regular professional development has been undertaken every year.

This ensures that the purity of the teachings of B. K.S.Iyengar and his family are maintained.
These high standards have made Iyengar Yoga the most widely taught method globally, with 1200 teachers across the UK and Ireland today.
